The roots of Arbor day date back to 1872 when it was first celebrated in Nebraska. The RITree Council, a non-profit organization, takes great pride in continuing this tradition and has sponsored Arbor Day plantings statewide since 1995. The official date for celebrating Arbor Day in Rhode Island this year is April 27, 2007
The 2007 Arbor Day Program is made possible with a donation from The Mihaildes Family Foundation.
