This is the first in a series of three "Knowing Your Trees" workshops to be presented by the RITree in 2010. Twenty of Rhode Island's most common conifers will be examined. Participants will learn their culture, maintenance needs, and major distinguishing features. Winter identification by buds, cones, leaves and bark will be emphasized. Also, new and improved conifer selections will be discussed and attendees will be taught how to select high-quality nursery grown plants.
